Demonstration to protest murder of Rev. James Reeb is held.
March 12, 1965
Some 200 college students begin a sit-in on the 11th floor of the Federal building. Led by Boston University student and future judge) Julian Houston, the demonstrators refuse to leave unless President Johnson promises to send federal troops or marshals to protect civil rights demonstrators in Selma, Alabama. But the protesters are evicted by police on March 14, 1965. Forty of them are arrested, but the charges against them are subsequently denied by Chief Justice Elijah Adlow.
